Description
Programmes for the five meetings of the Beethoven Quartett Society, held on 21 April, 5 and 19 May, and 2 and 16 June 1845, at 76 Harley Street, London.
Each meeting saw the performance of three quartets by Beethoven, typically an early, middle-period, and late work.
The programmes contain printed extracts from the beginning of each movement of the quartets featured, along with some historical observations on the works.
This volume concludes with a prospectus for a similar series of performances dedicated to the quartets of Haydn, who is described as ‘the great Father of that refined School of Music’.
