Description
Programme and wordbook for the last concert in Charles Halle’s Orchestral Concerts series of 1878-79, given on 4 March 1879 at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool. This was a two-part concert of vocal, instrumental and orchestral repertory, much of it by nineteenth-century German composers, including first performances of Wagner’s own arrangement of Selections from the Opera of ‘Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’ and Mozart, Piano Concerto No. 13 in D (Charles Halle, piano).
The programme provides detailed information regarding both the vocal and instrumental soloists and includes a complete list of the orchestral ensemble: Madame Norman-Neruda (violin), Herr Straus (viola), Herr Franz Neruda (cello), Herr Grosse (clarinet), M. Lalande (bassoon), M. Vanhaute (horn), Herr Neuwirth (double bass), with Herr Henschel (vocal).
