Collection Title
Concerts of Ancient Music: Handel Programmes (1820-41)
Description
A collection of handbills for performances of music by Handel given as part of the Concerts of Ancient Music series between 1820 and 1841, arranged chronologically as a bound volume.
Also, handbills for Mr Bartleman's Concert and Mr Greatorex's Concert, given at the New Rooms, Hanover Square on 12 and 26 May 1820 respectively.
None of the handbills for the Concerts of Ancient Music carry an indication of the venue for the performances, but it is known from other sources that these concerts also took place at the New Rooms, Hanover Square.
Many of these documents carry extensive handwritten annotations. These provide information about both the performers and the audience members.
