Collection Title
Edinburgh Festival (1815-19)
Description
A collection of prospectuses, programmes with words, and other material relating to the Edinburgh Musical Festivals of 1815 and 1819, held as a single bound volume.
Both Festivals consisted of morning and evening performances. The former were made up of selections of sacred music and were given in the Parliament Buildings/Parliament House. The latter, described as Grand Miscellaneous Concerts, were two-part vocal performances with orchestral overtures and some instrumental/concertante items. These were given in Corri's Rooms (1815) and the Theatre (1819).
Prospectuses for both events provide detailed lists of the Patrons, Directors and Subscribers to the Festivals.
