Description
Five undated programmes for concerts given during the first two seasons of the Elderhorst Chamber Concerts held at the Steinway Hall, London in 1898 and 1899. Many of the programmes contain advertisements for the next performance in the series, which allows for the dating provided in square brackets below.

All concerts were in two-parts and combined vocal and instrumental solos with instrumental chamber music. All programmes include brief historical and analytical notes on the principal works performed and the texts for the vocal pieces.

[Second Concert, 1898], featuring the Elderhorst String Quartet (Messrs C.K. Elderhorst, J. Kornfeld, A. Hobday and W. E. Whitehouse), with Isidor Cohn (piano) and Clara Samuell (vocal).

[Third Concert, 2 November 1898], with Madame Alma Haas (piano), Herr A. Kummer (violin), Mr E. Shelton (viola), Mr Charles Ould (cello) and Mr Enes Blackmore (vocal), accompanied by Mr Hopkins Ould.

[Fourth concert, 9 November 1898], with Mr Walter Ford (vocal), Madame Ethel Sharpe (piano), Herr C. K. Elderhorst (violin), J. Kornfeld (violin), Alfred Hobday (viola), W. E. Whitehouse (cello), Claude Hobday (double bass), Manuel Gomez (clarinet), A. Borsdorf (horn), and E. F. James (bassoon). The programme includes an advertisement, with outline programme, for the fifth concert, given on 18 November by Margaret Barter, Muriel Foster, R. A. Streatfeild and Francis Harford (vocal), with Madame Adelina de Lara (piano) and the Elderhorst String Quartet.

[Second concert, 7 February 1899], with Camille Chevillard (piano) and Achille Rivarde (violin), Arnold von Auen (vocal), W. E. Whitehouse (cello), accompanied by Mr Hopkins Auld. The programme includes an advertisement, with outline programme, for third concert, given on 15 February by Miss Fanny Davies (piano), Messrs Elderhorst, Kornfeld, Marchand and Nemes (violins), Messrs Hobday and Shelton (violas), Messrs Whitehouse and Parker (cellos) and Miss Agnes Witting (vocal), accompanied by Mr Hopkins Ould.

[Seventh concert, 1899], with Leonard Borwick (piano), Mr Elderhorst (violin) and Whitehouse (cello), Miss Helen Trust (vocal), Mr Hobday (viola). The programme includes an advertisement, with outline programme, for the eighth concert, given on 21 March by Madame Alma Haas (piano), and the Elderhorst String Quartett, with Claude Hobday (double bass), A. Borsdorf (horn), Manuel Gomez (clarinet) and Mr E. F. James (bassoon).
