Description
A collection of programme books for seven productions of works by Handel, given by English National Opera at the London Coliseum between 1983 and 2006, held as individual items.

All documents provide biographical notes on the principal performers (some with photographs) and include lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles. There are also historical notes/essays and a Synopsis.

The principal vocal performers are listed below.

28 April 1983: Handel, Ariodante, with Michael Druiett, Amanda Roocroft, Ann Murray, Paul Nilon, Christopher Robson, Lesley Garrett and Jamie MacDougall, conducted by Nicholas McGegan and Harry Bicket.

16 December 1985: Handel, Julius Ceasar with Christopher Robson, John Kitchiner, Jean Rigby, Sally Burgess, Valerie Masterson, James Bowman, Willard White, Tom Emlyn Williams and Brian Casey, conducted by Charles Mackerras and Noel Davies.

11 May 1996: Handel, Ariodante, with Gwynne Howell, Joan Rodgers, Ann Murray, Paul Nilon, Christopher Robson, Lesley Garrett and Mark Le Brocq, conducted by Ivor Bolton.

6 February 1998 (from): Handel, Xerxes, with Sarah Connolly, Artur Stefanowicz, Jean Rigby, Mark Richardson, Janis Kelly, Susan Gritton and Christopher Booth-Jones, conducted by Noel Davies.

29 November 1999 (from): Handel, Alcina, with Joan Rodgers, Janis Kelly, Lisa Milne, Sarah Connolly, Christine Rice, Mark Richardson, Toby Spence and Gail Pearson, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras and Noel Davies.

7 November 2002 (from): Handel, Xerxes, with Sarah Connolly, Robin Blaze, Anna Burford, Mark Richardson, Rebecca Evans, Mary Nelson and Iain Paterson, conducted by Harry Bicket.

Collections Overview
The Coram Family Collection contains musical scores by Handel, a fair copy of the Messiah and the conducting score for the Foundling Hospital Anthem, written especially for the Thomas Coram Foundling Hospital. This score is annotated in Handel's own hand.
