A miscellaneous collection of programmes and handbills for performances orchestral concerts given at the Queen's Hall, London between 1938 and 1914, held loosely and arranged chronologically within boxes 25 to 27 of the Ernst Henschel collection (1892-1966). The collection also includes a programme for the second recital given by the Léner Quartet at the same venue on 27 April 1939, held in box 26.

1. BBC Symphony Orchestra
26 October, 16 and 30 November and 7 December 1938: conducted by Sir Adrian Boult/Basil Cameron/Thomas Beecham.
8 February and 1 March 1939: conducted by Sir Adrian Boult.
15 March 1939: Paul Hindemith, Mathis the Painter (first concert performance in England), with the Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Clarence Raybould.
12, 17 and 28 May 1939: Beethoven Concert nos. 4, 5 and 9, conducted by Arturo Toscanini.
17 August 1939: BBC Promenade Concerts, with Sophie Wyss (vocal) and Solomon (piano), conducted by Sir Henry Wood.

2. Courtauld-Sargent Concerts
All concerts featured the London Philharmonic Orchestra are were conducted by Malcolm Sargent.
7/8 November and 12/13 December 1938: 10th series.
6/7 February, 6/7 March and 31 March 1939: 10th season, nos. 4 and 5 and 11th season, no. 1.
17 February 1940: (11th season) with Frederick Riddle (viola) and Geoffrey Gilbert (flute).

3. London Philharmonic Orchestra (not Courtauld-Sargent Concerts)
All concerts are conducted by Thomas Beecham.
27 October and 1, 5 and 11 November 1938: Six Concerts of the Works of Jean Sibelius given as a Sibelius Festival (prospectus and individual programmes). There is also information provided here regarding the remaining concerts, given on 29 October and 12 November 1938 at the Aeolian Hall.
10 and 17 December 1938:
21 January and 25 February 1939:
11 and 25 February 1939: Saturday Afternoon Concerts Nos. 3 and 4 (single document).

4. London Symphony Orchestra
14 November 1938: 33rd season, with Albert Sammons (violin), conducted by Anthony Collins.
22 January 1939: The Sunday Pops Society (first season), with Sigurd Rascher (saxophone) conducted by Charles Hambourg.
3 March 1939: A Concert by Portuguese Artists, conducted by Pedro de Freitas Branco.
5 April 1939: Festival of Music for the People (third concert), with Walter Widdop (tenor), Dennis Noble (baritone) and Alan Bush (piano), conducted by Constant Lambert (including a programme for the second concert of the Festival, held on 3 April at Conway Hall).
14 and 28 October 1939: (34th series), conducted by Sir Henry Wood and Leighton Lucas.

5. Royal Philharmonic Society
1 December 1938: 127th season, no. 5, conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham.
26 January, 23 February and 9 and 30 March 1939: 127th season, nos. 7, 9, 10 and 12, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sir Henry Wood, Felix Weingartner and Sir Thomas Beecham.
8 February 1941: 129th season, no. 4, given by the London Philharmonic Orchestra with Albert Sammons (violin), conducted by Leslie Heward.

Note: the Ernst Henschel collection also contains programmes for performances given by the Royal Philharmonic Society at the Royal Albert Hall (1943-51) and at the Royal Festival Hall (1951-59).

6. Miscellaneous concerts
12 October 1938: Mozart Concert, directed by Adolf Busch.
10 and 15 November 1938: National Orchestra of Czechoslovakia and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Rafael Kubelik.
