Description
Programmes for the third season of Ernst Pauer’s Historical Performance of Pianoforte Music, given on 27 November, 4 and 11 December 1867 at the Queen’s Concert Rooms, Hanover Square. Also an undated programme for the second performance in the same series.
All music was performed by Pauer on appropriate instruments (clavencin or piano) and each programme includes extensive historical, critical and biographical notes. In each case the music is arranged in strictly chronological order and the programmes conclude with a similarly ordered table of the most influential composers for the keyboard.
1867 season
27 November: Music by Kuhnau, Handel, J. S., W. F., and C. P. E. Bach, Haessler, Mozart, Beethoven, Hummel, Liszt, and Thalberg.
4 December: Music by Lully, D. Scarlatti, Galuppi, Martini, Paradies, Clementi, J. B. Cramer, Field, Chopin, Schumann, and Heller.
11 December: Music by Couperin, Rameau, Krebs, Kirnberger, Haydn, Dussek, Müller, Weber, Moscheles, Schubert, Sterndale Bennett, and Mendelssohn.
Undated programme: Music by Couperin, Rameau, Handel, Muzio Clementi, Beethoven, Weber, Field, Chopin and Thalberg.
