Description
A volume of prospectuses, with programmes, for the Orchestral Concerts and Recitals, given at the Leeds Town Hall between 1956 and 1977 and presented by the City of Leeds Music and Civic Theatre Committee/Leeds Leisure Services Committee (missing that for 1957-58 season). Also an incomplete set of programme booklets for the performances of this kind given between 1960 and 1978 (bound as four volumes) and a parcel of relating to other performances given in Leeds.
All prospectuses including a list of the orchestra, conductors, ensembles and performers engaged for the season and provide an index of the music performed. Some also including ticket booking information and photos of certain principal performers.
All programme booklets carry biographical, historical and description notes (only a very few or which include musical examples). A large number also include a list of the orchestral ensemble.
In the listings below, information regarding the leader and the conductor of each performance is given in parenthesis after the name of the orchestra.
