Miscellaneous pamphlets taken from BBC Publications collection (1924-2005)
Description
A miscellaneous collection of programmes relating to performances given at various London venues between 1924 and 2005, all under the auspices of the British Broadcasting Corporation, held individually as part of the general pamphlet sequence of the BBC Written Archives (individual shelf marks given in [ ] below). Also, a folder of material relating to the BBC Symphony Orchestra USA Tour of 1965 [A/2010].
This collection is divided in two sequences: A covering the period 1922-80 and B that from 1981.

Wednesday 9 April [1924]: BBC Symphony Concerts 1st series, no. 2, given by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hamilton Harty (with words and notes). [A/2003]
- Queen Elizabeth Hall
All programmes include words, notes and a list of the orchestral ensemble. That for the 1967 concert includes musical examples and those for the BBC Concert Orchestra provide biographical notes and photographs.
27 November 1967: 1st International Concert Season of the European Broadcasting Union, Opening Concert with the English Chamber Orchestra [A/2028].
Sunday 9 April [1995/2000]: BBC Concert Orchestra Viva Espana, conducted by Barry Wordsworth [B/5015].

Collections Overview
The BBC's Written Archives constitute the working papers of the organization from 1922 to the 1970s. They show in great detail how the BBC went about the task of making programmes, first for radio and later also for television. They detail the planning, production and content of these programmes, encompassing internal memoranda and minutes of meetings, financial records, correspondence with contributors, programmes records of various types, extensive press cuttings, audience reaction, concert programmes, publicity and publications. These detailed internal records are available for research from the beginning up to 1974.
