Description
A bound volume containing programmes with words for performances given at the Oxford Music Room (Holywell Music Room) between 23 October 1797 and 14 July 1800. Also, programmes with words for a Race Concert given in the Council Chamber, Abingdon, on 11 September 1798 and for concerts given at the Town Hall on 25 July 1798 (Race Concert and Ball) and 10 May 1799 (Mr Cross' Benefit).
All documents consist of a single-sheet programme, including the words of the vocal/choral pieces. A number of the programmes are partially damaged and many include handwritten corrections to the printed listings.
Unless otherwise stated below, these were two-part concerts of vocal and instrumental music, typically with orchestral/choral works to open and close. Where a concert was given a specific title, or was given for the benefit of a particular individual, this is recorded in parenthesis.
