Description
A collection of 41 programmes and prospectuses from the Town Hall, from 1889 to 1990. In addition, the collection also includes some press cuttings.

The earliest item in the collection is a programme from a chamber concert given on 11 December 1889. The concert was given as part of the series "Leeds Subscription Concerts".

The rest of the collection dates from 1906 onwards. The majority of items in the collection are from orchestral concerts and large-scale choral concerts. A number of programmes and prospectuses are from concerts organised by the Leeds Philharmonic Society. The early twentieth-century programmes includes items from the series "Municipal concerts" and "Leeds Saturday Orchestral Concerts" (concerts given by the Leeds Symphony Orchestra), as well as other programmes from concerts given by the Leeds Symphony Orchestra. Programmes from the early 1950s include a number of items from the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

The collection also includes programmes from a number of recitals and chamber music concerts. These include programmes from concerts organised by the Leeds Philharmonic Society and the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition.

Collections Overview
The Centre for Performance History was created in 2004 through the amalgamation of the Department of Portraits and the Museum of Instruments (see the separate entry for the Museum. The College has acquired portraits throughout its history since 1883 and the Centre posseses the most comprehensive collection of portraits of musicians in the UK, amounting to some 346 original portraits and 10,000 prints and photographs. In addition to the iconographical collections and their documentation, the department houses other categories of source material - most notably the largest collection of concert programmes in this country, comprising some 600,000 items dating from 1780 to the present day.
